Our Business

Znomics is a biotechnology company that developes new pharmaceutical products for treatment of human diseases, via two complementary strategies:

• Commercial – pursuing proprietary drug discovery and development programs both autonomously and collaboratively.
• Academic – providing materials (ZeneMark^® mutants) to and developing collaborative relationships with researchers engaged in advancing biological science, thereby enhancing Znomics’ intellectual property and drug development capabilities.

Our Discovery Platform

The Znomics Drug Discovery Platform is based the well established utility of the zebrafish for modeling human organ physiology and disease.  The company has created a unique tool, the ZeneMark^® Library, to support its drug discovery programs. The ZeneMark^® Library is a proprietary collection of retroviral mutations in the zebrafish, the first such extensive resource in a vertebrate. The Zenemark^® Library currently contains more than 14,000 strains of fish representing mutations in approximately half of the known zebrafish genes.

The Company is leveraging this technology for its internal drug discovery efforts, as well as building collaborative alliances with pharmaceutical companies and universities. The Company also provides mutant fish strains to university scientists, for research purposes, obtaining rights to license new discoveries in academic laboratories. The Znomics methodology screens small molecules against all potential drug targets in the animal and thereby improves the speed and efficacy of finding lead compounds, as compared with the single target screens traditionally used in the pharmaceutical industry.

Our Vision

Despite the billions of dollars spent on drug discovery, productivity in pharmaceutical research and development has declined dramatically over the past several decades. We believe that the Znomics Drug Discovery Platform has the capacity to accelerate the drug discovery and development process, making it faster, more effective and more cost-efficient, thereby providing more therapeutic avenues to more patients suffering from inadequately treated diseases.
